AI chatbots interacting with humans is always an interesting exchange, especially once the AI starts getting “trained” unconventionally. Such a thing happened in Fortnite‘s very own implementation of a chatbot AI, namely an in-game Darth Vader mimicking the voice of the late James Earl Jones, nonetheless. Less than a few days after it was made available, Fortnite‘s Darth Vader AI chatbot quickly got a taste of modern-day brain rot.
Evidence of Darth Vader’s overt immersion-breaking replies are all over social media now though some of the more notable ones are those involving his confoundment with Chun Li’s butt, the usual Skibidi Toilet, and even Hawk Tuah. Some of the craftier players, however, managed to make Fortnite‘s Darth Vader AI chatbot say what they think is a homophobic slur.
Here’s one of the most damning examples (if you an excuse the chimp cheer that ensues afterward):
In case the video gets taken down, the Fortnite Darth Vader AI chatbot can be heard saying the word “f*gs,” which is extremely homophobic, though it’s not clear what exactly pushed the AI into saying this. The Vader chatbot, for the record, likely has a ton of strict parameters and filters to keep things safe-for-work or child-friendly, considering how young many Fortnite players are.
Other, less vulgar examples of the Vader AI chatbot being hip and cool to Gen Z and Gen Alpha these days are judging players for their fixation on Chun Li.
Meanwhile, of course, someone would try to make Darth Vader say “skibidi toilet” because that practically sums up the vernacular of younger gamers.
The Future of Fortnite’s AI Chatbot
The way it works is that you can ask questions to the Darth Vader AI chatbot in-game, and it will reply based on your input. You can technically have conversations with it, and it can even call your name or another name you prefer. The cherry on top would be James Earl Jones’ pitch-perfect Vader voice, something Disney and Fortnite brought back from the afterlife for this very purpose.

Now, however, Fortnite players are intent on pushing AI Darth Vader’s boundaries and possibly getting him to become an actual, diabolical villain. You can expect to see more “experiments” with the Darth Vader chatbot courtesy of Fortnite players, and there is a chance that the game might actually remove the feature if it ever gets corrupted, just like what happened with other previous AI that were consistently exposed to people online.
