An exciting way to pass the time in Dave the Diver is with seahorse racing. It is a nice break from exploring the ocean and battling massive underwater creatures. But how do you race seahorses? And how do you choose the best seahorse to race with? Well, there are some steps you must do before you can unlock access to the races. Let’s dive right into everything about seahorses and how you can race them.

How To Race Seahorses in Dave the Diver

Seahorses are among the many creatures you will encounter in Dave the Diver. You’ll notice plenty of roaming around, especially around the Sea People Village. In the beginning, you are unable to catch them. You must progress through the story until you reach Chapter 2 and encounter Maki at the restaurant. It’s here that you will unlock the Bug Net. The Bug Net is the only way you can catch seahorses.

Once we have them, you’re one step closer to racing seahorses in Dave the Diver. Unlocking the races relates to the mission “Catch the Runaway Seahorses.” You’ll acquire the mission in the Game Parlor from Linchen. Once you complete it, you will help them reopen the races.

If you don’t know where to look, you can check the following areas for the four runaway seahorses:

  • Crowned Seahorse: Tenzhin’s House off to the right of the portal
  • Dwarf Seahorse: Seed Shop building
  • Giraffe Seahorse: Lower level of Sea People Village
  • Hedgehog Seahorse: Left side of the restaurant

After you catch all the critters, you can speak to Linchen to complete the quest and unlock Dave the Diver’s seahorse racing. She’ll direct you to speak to another NPC, Yami, who stands off to the left side of the Game Parlor. You can race right away or catch others to find the best seahorse in Dave the Diver.

Whenever you’re ready, speak to Yami. There are multiple options you can select relating to the seahorses:

  • Race
  • Manage
  • Register

Select “Register” if you have multiple seahorses and wish to set up your team. You can check the various stats such as max speed, acceleration, and more. When ready, choose “Race” and you can race either solo or in a team. You can see the other races and the stats of their seahorses.

Once you choose your racer, it’s time to start. Seahorse racing in Dave the Diver isn’t complicated. There are only three things you can do during the race:

  • Cheer
  • Jump
  • Slide

For the majority of the time, you will cheer your seahorse to victory. You’ll know when you must jump or slide during the race to keep going. In Dave the Diver, seahorse racing is a fun way to enjoy the world of the game and earn a trophy for your trouble.

Dave the Diver is available on PC.
