DC Studios has found its new Superman and Lois Lane. David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan have been cast as the leads of Superman: Legacy. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two actors will star in the movie that will kick off the new DC Universe (DCU) under director James Gunn and his co-boss Peter Safran. DC fans have been eager to learn who the new Superman would be after Henry Cavill was let go from the role in December 2021. Corenswet has been one of the many actors considered for the role for quite some time. Now Corenswet is officially the new Man of Steel for Superman: Legacy, and he’s got his Lois Lane in Rachel Brosnahan.
Who Are Superman: Legacy Stars David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan
Corenswet is six feet four inches tall and is ten days from his 30th birthday. He is a graduate of Julliard Acting School who got his start guest starring in shows like House of Cards. Entertainment Weekly says Corenswet got his breakout role as a key supporting player in the Netflix series The Politician. He was also the main star of Ryan Murphy’s miniseries Hollywood.
In 2019, Corenswet admitted that his “pie-in-the-sky ambition is definitely to play Superman.” Many people have noted that he and Henry Cavill look similar. That is probably why he’s been a rumored casting choice since Cavill announced he was no longer playing Superman. He beat out six actors after the role, including Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney.
Rachel Brosnahan, 32, is best known as the lead in the Amazon Prime series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. That series earned Brosnahan a Primetime Emmy Award and two consecutive Golden Globes. The series recently concluded, and Brosnahan is now taking on the iconic role of Superman’s love interest Lois Lane.
