Dax Shepard is spilling the tea on how his wife Kristen Bell’s steamy Netflix No.1 show made him feel. The comedian, who has been married to Bell for 11 years, is no stranger to giving fans a glimpse of their intimate life. Hence, why he could admit the chemistry between Bell and her co-star, Adam Brody seemed intimidating.
Shepard dished on the topic at the New Yorker Festival while recalling how he and his wife recorded their first podcast episode. When asked about their “incredible chemistry,” the Idiocracy star joked that it was “not as good as her and Brody.” He then revealed that he watched Nobody Wants This with a friend. “We watched that scene together, the kissing scene, which I’d argue is the very best kissing scene ever, ever put on film,” Shepard told the crowd, per Daily Mail. He further recalled, “And my best friend, Aaron, from childhood, he goes, ‘Does she ever kiss you like that?'” The Armchair Expert host said he told his friend:
“No, I didn’t even know she could kiss like that.”
Nobody Wants This tells the dynamic love story of Joanne, an agnostic sex podcaster portrayed by Bell, and Noah, a newly single rabbi played by Brody. Netflix has renewed the show for a second season.
Kristen Bell Says ‘There’s A Math’ To Chemistry With Adam Brody
Shepard’s revelation comes after Bell initially revealed he was rooting for her and Brody’s characters. “Even I can acknowledge watching it, like, ‘Whoa, that’s hot,‘” she shared before adding, “My husband said the same thing. Like, watching the first episode, he was like, ‘Oh my god, I want you to kiss him so badly.”
Despite the intense on-screen passion, the Frozen star admitted that their performance was simply acting and nothing more. “I’m not trying to be reductive, but I think there’s a math to it,” she explained to E! Online. “You have two actors that know how to stare dopily into each other’s eyes, and you have to have the confidence to expand that and really sit the anticipatory value before the kiss —which I think is really important.”
