Days of Our Lives’ Deidre Hall talks about aging. Moreover, she talks about aging gracefully. Whereas so many women in media feel the need to get work done and to dye their hair to stay young-looking, Deidre Hall bucks that trend and tells us all to embrace it. After all, there is true beauty in just accepting yourself as is. This soap has been on since 1965. While she may not have been in that initial cast, she has been on the show for over 45 years. Now look at her again and realize how amazing that is.
Her Marlena character has been pivotal to the show and to the fans. And to her credit, she allows herself to be gray, and she doesn’t run from that or try to hide it from people. On top of that, she is doing her best to let everyone else know they should do the same!

If you’ve decided to stop dyeing your hair — and aren’t as happy with the back of your head as you are the front — you are by no means alone. “Everybody’s going through this,” Deidre Hall said during the April 14 edition of Kitchen Minute. “This is the No. 1 question on hair-color blogs because nature grays you in the front [rather than the back] for a reason.” Wait, she does? Yes, said the Days of Our Lives star. “Nature, being as smart as she is, does it so that it softens your features.” And nature just forgets the back? “What features are in the back of your head? We don’t care.”
If you’ve grown up watching Days of Our Lives as I have, it’s been crazy to grow with these people. But what sucks is well aged harder than they did. But I love this message she is sending out. First of all, she is stunning and ageless—gray hair or not. Moreover, the fact that she is telling other women to embrace aging is just such a healthy message to send out. Also, the dying of silver hair never made sense to me. Silver hair is badass in every way.
And in most cases, people with gray do genuinely look distinguished. Plus, spoiler alert, people can tell when you are dying your hair. So be like Marlena and just embrace it.
After all, like sands through the hourglass, these are the literal days of our lives.
