“Yellowstone” season 5 will be the end of the series. Sources say the Kevin Costner-led film will cave in after the second half of the season is filmed.
Fans were introduced to Taylor Sheridan’s award-winning show ‘Yellowstone’ in 2018. The creator has an eye-catching resume. His works include “Sons of Anarchy,” “Sicario,” “Hell or High Water,” and “Tulsa King.” He worked closely with a handful of stars in “Yellowstone,” including Kevin Costner, Danny Huston, and Wes Bentley.
Before 2022 wrapped up, the first half of ‘Yellowstone‘ season 5 aired on Peacock. The streaming giant recorded 12.1 million viewers between November to January 2023. While fans await fresh episodes, sources hint that it might be the end of the “Yellowstone” series.

An Inside Ego Problem Ends the Filming Yellowstone Season 5
For years, Costner and Sheridan have worked hand in hand, releasing different seasons. But sources say that “Yellowstone” filming has to end due to in-house friction. This involved the onscreen Montana patriarch, and the creator, Sheridan.
A reputable production believes that despite the friction, there is respect between the veteran star and the showrunner. But another who has worked with Sheridan pegs it to an ego problem.
‘Yellowstone’ Series Will End Once Season 5 Filming Resumes
For now, there is a Hollywood writer’s strike, and the scripts for the show’s continuation are not ready. However, there is hope. The same production source that claimed Sheridan’s ego might be at play, shared its optimism for the ‘Yellowstone’ series return. According to the shared deets:
“It’s too big a show for things not to be worked out. Hopefully Kevin will return for the remaining episodes if everyone works together, but it looks like ‘Yellowstone’ will end after this season.”
While no one knows the exact time of a “Yellowstone” release, Sheridan likely does. Another informant confirmed that the series creator is calling the shots.
The Hollywood insider maintained that Sheridan was underappreciated for some time, and would not mind flexing his muscles. However, the same source mentioned that Sheridan was overburdened even when Costner was available to work.
There is no comment from either Costner or Sheridan. After it ends, fans can expect a “Yellowstone” spinoff led by Matthew McConaughey. It was announced that the new show will be an extension of the Dutton family drama.
