The upcoming issue of Batman from Chip Zdarsky and Mike Hawthorne gives DC’s Riddler a whole new look. Previews for the issue on CBR, releasing later this week, showcases Edward Nygma on another version of Earth. While the other-Earth’s Nygma keeps the suit and bowler hat theme, that is where the similarities end.
The DC’s Riddler on Another Earth
In Zdarksy’s ongoing series, Bruce Wayne has been transported to another version of Earth. In trying to find a way back home, the Caped Crusader realizes that the only way to do so is to help this other version of Gotham. Of course, the only way Bruce Wayne knows how to help is by sporting a cape and fighting crime. However, without access to his money and gear, Bruce Wayne is forced to use what is at hand to create his own batsuit.
In the pursuit of justice, Batman is on a crash-course with this other Earth’s Riddler. Though, fans will notice a costume change for DC’s Riddler in this world. This Edward Nygma traded in green for red with his suit. Though, he still opts for some purple accents. This Riddler also dons longer hair. However, the biggest difference is with the villain’s face. This Riddler has a large question mark tattoo across his face, leaving mystery as to who he is.
Even with the new look, this Earth’s Riddler still appears to be just as crazy. In the preview pages, he is seen asking children different riddles. If they are wrong, then it is straight to Arkham for them.
Batman #133
The upcoming issue releases on March 7 from Chip Zdarsky, Mike Hawthorne, and Adriano Di Benedetto. It also features several variant covers from the likes of Joe Quesada, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, and Derrick Chew.
An official synopsis for the issue claims that “Everyone goes insane eventually.” And once they do, they belong to the terrifying Red Mask. However, Gotham has a new savior, and this vigilante strikes from the shadows and is known as the Batman. The issue also features a backup story. Tim Drake is on the search for Batman. He teams up with Superman Jon Kent to stop the terror of the Toyman in his search.
