Earlier this week, it seemed that DC’s White Knight Universe was ending with the release of Batman: Beyond the White Knight #8. While writer Sean Murphy teased the introduction of the White Knight Superman, he also hinted at the issue serving as a grand finale. However, as one door closes DC is opening another with the reveal of two White Knight spinoffs. One focuses on The Joker with the other focusing on Justice League members like Wonder Woman and Superman.
DC’s White Knight Universe Lives On!
Today, DC revealed a first look at the next chapter of the White Knight Universe. The first is a new story titled Batman: White Knight Presents: Generation Joker. This brings Sean Murphy back to the Universe alongside Katana Collins and Clay McCormack. Joining them is artist Mirka Andolfo. The spin-off features Jackie and Bryce, the children of Jack Napier AKA The Joker. The siblings will take a road trip with a special guest, a Joker hologram.
Meanwhile, the second spin-off will focus on various members of the Justice League within DC’s White Knight Universe. Simply titled World’s Finest: White Knight, it sounds like this spin-off will pick up where Batman: Beyond the White Knight #8ended. Spoilers ahead…the final issue of Murphy’s series ended with the introduction of Diana Prince, John Stewart, and Clark Kent to the Universe. Now, this spin-off is aiming to explore their presence in the Universe and what it means for the Justice League.
A Look Ahead…
While details on these two new titles are being kept under wraps, Sean Murphy did share a bit of what readers can expect. The writer shared his enthusiasm to expand the White Knight Universe with new titles. He also spoke on his fellow creators and what they are bringing to the table; “I think Clay, Katana, and MIrka are doing a great job of adding more variety to the characters and the universe.”
Meanwhile, previews for the Joker story show the twins getting up to no good as they search for answers. Of course, as the twins run away in a stolen Batmobile, they are caught by none other than the hologram of their dead father. What could it all mean and what will it lead to?
Batman: White Knight Presents: Generation Joker hits shelves on May 9, while World’s Finest has yet to receive a release date.
