Dead Age, the tactical zombie RPG from developers Silent Dreams has shuffled its way over to the PlayStation 4 today.

As is usual for any post-apocalyptic game Dead Age throws players into the middle of a zombie outbreak and tasks them with surviving whilst trying to rebuild society. So far, so familiar.

The difference here is how it all plays out. Dead Age isn’t your typical zombie shooter as everything is presented in a series of tactical, turn-based battles. There’s also the little issue of permanent death. Exactly how things should be in a zombie apocalypse.

Presented in a visual novel style it is part survival management, part JRPG, and part rogue-lite. Hopefully, it’s not a case of jack of all trades, master of none. Have a little peek at the PlayStation launch trailer and see what you think of it.

I’ll admit to being relatively in the dark about this game, however, it looks quite interesting to me, although I’ll reserve judgment on it until I get the chance to go hands-on. Looks can be deceiving after all.

Having previously released on Steam, Dead Age has got a pretty decent 84% very positive rating from the 2963 user reviews which does seem pretty promising.

Mostly, I’m interested in the story. In true Walking Dead style, any decisions you make along the way can affect the story outcome. Interestingly, this includes decisions made in conflict situations. You can be a savior, stockpile supplies or even build romantic relationships. Sounds good, if it’s done right.

If you’ve had a chance to play Dead Age on the PC let us know your thoughts on the title in the comments. Let us know too if you plan to pick it up on the PS4.

Dead Age is out now on the PlayStation 4 at a cost of $14.99.
