Deadpool and Wolverine are reunited! Real-life pals Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are now an on-screen duo once again with the debut of the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer. The antihero’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — during the action of the 2024 Super Bowl — excited fans.
It’s Deadpool’s Birthday and Everyone Is Invited
Wade Wilson (Reynolds) is enjoying a birthday party with friends when they’re interrupted by members of the Time Variance Authority. This is the first time it’s confirmed that the organization featured in Disney+’s Loki.
Matthew Macfayden, whose character isn’t named in the spot, said, “Wade, you are special. This is your chance to be a hero among heroes.”
Deadpool is dragged back to headquarters after a cheeky joke about Disney. Then, he learns he’s being enlisted for a mission, and is shown photos of a number of the Avengers greats.
“This is your chance to be a hero among heroes,” Macfayden’s character said.
“I smell what you’re stepping in, sensei. Your little Cinematic Universe is about to change forever. I’m the Messiah. I am Marvel Jesus.”

Deadpool and Wolverine Is Marvel’s First Foray Into R-Rated Entertainment
The trailer makes a number of innuendos that remind viewers this is a more adult Marvel film than ever before. An action-packed fight sequel — full of allusions to four-letter words, guns, and swords — ensues, and ends with Deadpool laid out on the ground.
Slowly, the shadow of Wolverine appears over him, pausing for a second before popping out his claws as the spot ends.
The film is in theaters July 25. It is rumored to feature a number of exciting cameos — and may include the appearance by another one of Reynolds’ famous friends, Taylor Swift.
When the commercial aired, Swift was at the Super Bowl with Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively. Reynolds joked about that in an Instagram post Sunday.
“Has everyone seen the #Deadpool trailer? Also has anyone seen my wife?” he wrote.
