It’s another week, which means it’s time for another few free titles to come from the Epic Games Store! Last week was an interesting set of titles, from an adventure through the unknown with Obduction, and the race to corporate stardom in space with Offworld Trading Company. Given the fact that those titles are incredibly separate from each other (minus the topic of space travel), hopefully one or the other caught your eye. If you were expecting something similar this week though, you’d be mistaken. This week, Verdun and Defense Grid: The Awakening have joined the free roster on the Epic Games Store! Next week, the titles will be followed up with Mothergunship and Train Sim World 2!

Starting us off with Defense Grid: The Awakening, this title looks to bring a bit of the classic tower defense genre you know and love to the Epic Games Store. This futuristic title sees players set up all sorts of defenses to prevent a horde of unknown creatures from wreaking havoc. You can’t just place towers wherever you please though, as only superior strategy and thinking will lead you to success. The only question is, can you defend the cores from some truly monstrous enemies?

And in an opposite direction, World War I FPS Verdun looks to send players out onto the front lines. Between the periods of 1914 and 1918, soldiers will head into iconic battles to bring down the opposing force and secure a decisive victory. Using some of the most accurate weaponry and military tactics, you’ll work your way through the trenches, taking down opponents with deadeye precision while under heavy fire. Only the team with the strongest military prowess will succeed, but will that be you? There’s only one way to find out.

So, between Verdun and Defense Grid: The Awakening, which of these free Epic Games Store titles will you be trying first? Are you excited about next week’s games? Let me know in the comments below!
