Saying absurd things on the internet isn’t anything new, especially for influencers with the entitlement of an emperor or empress. And of all the people to say controversial opinions and statements, California YouTuber and ‘drama king’ Ethan Klein of H3H3 Productions is the last person anyone would expect not to be under fire for saying outrageous things. That said, this time, he’s targeting one of the most active and well-known forums for celebrity content on Reddit, r/Fauxmoi, with claims that its users are “Neo-Nazi” and on a mission to defame him.
Ethan Klein’s comments against r/Fauxmoi took place while discussing how he didn’t say Israel’s genocide on Palestine was “inevitable,” despite having used the same word within the context about the conflict between the two countries in a post from months back. “This led him to claim that the subreddit posts ‘defamatory headlines’ and ‘brazen lies’ about him,” a poster on r/Fauxmoi explains. Without a doubt, some posts on the subreddit will sometimes be biased to an extent, especially in the comment section, but to blatantly accuse a community of defamation after it simply used his speech as a source is quite debatable.
On top of that, the r/Fauxmoi poster added in the comment section how Ethan Klein posted on Instagram, saying that “Fauxmoi is basically indistinguishable from a Neo-Nazi forum,” to which many agree that the YouTuber is being “completely delusional.” After all, “Anti-Zionism is not antisemitism,” as the poster puts it, adding that r/Fauxmoi is very progressive and very much against any sort of supremacy. Browsing the subreddit for even a few seconds will correct any assumption like that.
By attacking such a popular subreddit for celebrity and political news, Ethan Klein might as well be declaring war on Reddit, considering how many people frequent r/Fauxmoi. Like anywhere on the internet, once you get on an online community’s bad side, it’s hard to escape its ire. An ironic element of all this drama is that, back in May of last year, a Redditor pointed out that his wife Hila Klein liked an Instagram post that claimed Israel is not committing genocide, despite Ethan trying to claim he’s not a Zionist or “genocide denier.”
Of course, this attack on a well-established subreddit is just a small fragment of all the drama and harassment campaigns Ethan Klein has been caught up in as of late, and many online users are getting fed up with him making news. “What a hellish existence. Imagine spending all day and night creating and seething at online drama at age 40. There’s no way he’s healthy in the head,” remarks a commenter. “Why should we care about a washed up YouTuber?” asks another. Now that’s an excellent question.
