A few years ago, if someone told you Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson would be getting a divorce, you would laugh in their face. The likelihood of this incredibly loved-up couple splitting seemed like such a far-off concept, and yet, here we are: in January 2025, it was announced that Simpson and Johnson were separating.
For months, there were reports that the pair were struggling and their relationship was over, but the official announcement came via a statement to People. “Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson said last month. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.” The news shocked many fans, considering the pair had been together since 2010, married since 2014, and share three children, Maxwell, Ace, and Birdie.
Jessica Simpson Puts On A Brave Face Amid Split From Eric Johnson
Despite Simpson’s relationship struggles, she has been focused on bettering herself, and a source recently told Us Weekly that she has been “doing better each day” amid her separation. It was also claimed that she has “very positive attitude” as she navigates her new normal despite the pain of the last year. Ending a long-term relationship is difficult, and it becomes even more challenging when children are involved. This is something that the “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’” singer is discovering.
“She is house hunting in L.A. [and] figuring out where she will begin her new chapter with the kids,” the insider said. In addition, she is working hard with Johnson to establish an amicable co-parenting relationship. Is there hope that the couple may reconcile in the future? While we can never say never, it is important to note that they are not divorcing … yet. “There hasn’t been a lot of movement toward a divorce because they are still in the separation stage,” a source told Us Weekly.
If you take a look at Simpson’s Instagram (where she has 6.3 million followers), you’ll see this positive attitude firsthand. She has been active on the platform, posting updates for fans about her music and the important impact it has had on her. “Music bursts through my soul and makes me smile…” she captioned a post of herself smiling into the camera. She has also teased updates, including the release of her new song, which is due later this month (and it’s already being referred to as her revenge album).
We don’t know what goes on behind the scenes but it looks as though Jessica Simpson is going to be OK.
