Destiny 2: All Ascendant Challenges and How to Complete Them
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

Ascendant Challenges and Petra Venj’s weekly Bounty in Destiny 2 are your main source to farm Dreaming City gear. Six Ascendant Challenges will rotate once every week. To enter the Challenges’ arena, you need to consume the Tincture of Queensfoil item found in chests all over the Dreaming City or bought from Petra for 50 Baryon Boughs. To help you complete all Destiny 2 Ascendant Challenges as well as find the hidden Corrupted Eggs and Ahamkara Bones, we have compiled video and text guides that you can read below.

Forfeit Shrine Ascendant Challenge

  • Entrance: Gardens of Esila, Reef
  • Curse: Weak
  • Period:
    • August 9-15, 2022
    • September 20-26, 2022
    • November 1-07, 2022
    • December 13-19, 2022

In this Challenge, you need to collect three Orbs (placed randomly outside the center arena) and deposit them back in the center arena. Try avoiding all the enemies and Blights since they’ll just take up your time. After all three have been deposited, an energy well will charge up your Super and health regeneration and three Taken Knights will show up. Defeat them all to spawn the loot chest, the portal back to Gardens of Esila, and complete the Forfeit Shrine Ascendant Challenge.

  • Entrance: Spine of Keres, Reef
  • Curse: Medium
  • Period:
    • August 16-22, 2022
    • September 27-October 3, 2022
    • November 8-14, 2022
    • December 20-26, 2022

The Shattered Ruins Ascendant Challenge is pretty straightforward; all you need to do is navigate and jump through a bunch of floating rocks until you reach the final, small platform arena to fight against Bal Eralus, The Obedient. However, the Challenge has several randomized modifiers such as Cabal or Taken enemies, boosters, or exploding orbs that deal lots of damage.

Keep of Honed Edges

  • Entrance: Harbinger’s Seclude, Divalian Mists
  • Curse: Strong
  • Period:
    • August 23-29, 2022
    • October 4-10, 2022
    • November 15-21, 2022
    • December 27, 2022-January 2, 2023

Once you’re inside, head to the middle platform that has the large lit structure where enemies will spawn. Keep defeating all Hive that you can set your eyes on until the Relic Sword in the center of the arena is unlocked. When you grab the Sword, one Hive Knight will awaken, and the other two will follow after the first one is defeated.

Afterward, follow Toland with the Relic Sword on hand to the exit. Keep in mind, though, that the Keep of Honed Edges Ascendant Challenge has several randomized starting and exit points.

Agonarch Abyss Ascendant Challenge Guide in Destiny 2

  • Entrance: Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector, Divalian Mists
  • Curse: Weak
  • Period:
    • August 30-September 5, 2022
    • October 11-17, 2022
    • Nov 22-28, 2022

This Challenge is rather short but somewhat frustrating if you’re not a huge fan of platforming. Inside, you’ll have to jump down and carefully land on a series of tricky cliffs, plates, and rocks. At the bottom level, you’ll face off against two Taken Wizards and a number of Thralls surrounded by Blights. Simply defeating the Wizards should give you the chest and a way back to Dreaming City.

Cimmerian Garrison

  • Entrance: Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector, Rheasilvia
  • Curse: Medium
  • Period:
    • September 6-12, 2022
    • October 18-24, 2022
    • November 29-December 5, 2022

Inside the Ascendant Challenge area, follow the path and follow Toland, who guides you through a series of floating platforms; take care not to fall down the platforms, though, since some of them rotate. You will eventually face off against a Taken Knight and respawning Shriekers and Phalanx. Defeat the Knight as fast as you can and continue down the road. Two Taken Knights and other mobs will spawn on the last platform; ignoring the mobs and simply defeating the two Knights will clear the Cimmerian Garrison Ascendant Challenge.

  • Entrance: Aphelion’s Rest Lost Sector, The Strand
  • Curse: Strong
  • Period:
    • August 2-8, 2022
    • September 13-19, 2022
    • October 25-31, 2022
    • December 6-12, 2022

Once you get in, you’ll see a bunch of crystals covered by shields. To remove their shields, you need to look for four Taken Blights across the area; their spawns are randomized but always show up outside the center platform in the middle of the fog. For that reason, turning up your game’s brightness option could help when looking for them.

With all four Taken Blights being destroyed, go back to the center platform. Now the shield surrounding the crystals should be gone. Destroy all 10 crystals using your weapons or Supers while avoiding the extremely strong Abyssal Champion to spawn the loot chest, the portal back to Aphelion’s Rest, and complete the Ouroborea Ascendant Challenge.
