Bungie has revealed the story premise and gameplay activity for Destiny’s Season of the Hunt, which begins alongside the Beyond Light expansion on November 10. Most notably the season will mark the return of Uldren Sov to the forefront of the game’s story.
For those unfamiliar with seasons in Destiny, each year of the game is broken into seasons with their own self-contained story and in-game activity. In addition to the seasons, there are annual Expansions like Forsaken, Shadowkeep, and the upcoming Beyond Light which have their own separate overarching story. Until now, Bungie has revealed a lot of information about the Beyond Light story but has kept details about the new Season of the Hunt close to the vest.
Today as part of their ViDoc video update, the Destiny developer finally revealed the new season’s story. Namely that the Season of the Hunt will be a sort of buddy cop movie featuring Osiris, the titular Warlock of the Curse of Osiris expansion, and Crow, also known as Uldren Sov, the man who killed Cayde 6. These two characters will be teaming up to fight the Hive in the Dreaming City and Reef regions of the solar system.
In terms of gameplay, players will once again fight hordes of enemies gathered around rotating areas of Destiny 2’s open world. This time in an attempt to destroy Hive artifacts that are powering up those enemies. There will most likely be new story missions to flesh out the story on a weekly schedule as the Season goes on. Players of Destiny who weren’t around during the Season of the Forge in 2018 probably missed the short cutscene where Uldren Sov was reborn as a Guardian after being killed by either the player character or Petra Venj at the climax of the Forsaken expansion’s story.
Osiris has been seen on screen more recently in the Season of the Dawn expansion, where he worked with player characters to stop a Cabal incursion into past and future timelines. Aside from this new rundown of the Season of the Hunt Bungie’s ViDoc was mostly a rehash of information previously revealed elsewhere. The video does have some interesting images that have wild story implications.

Did anyone see that one coming?
