It was recently “revealed” (read: accidentally leaked) that the Trespasser Exotic Sidearm from Destiny 1 could make a return in Destiny 2, and now long-time Guardians are getting more excited for the upcoming season. How did this leak come to be, and will the gun come to Season 17? Continue reading below to find out more of the juicy details.
Is Trespasser Making a Comeback to Destiny 2?
On the 21 April 2022 This Week at Bungie news update, the developer mentioned a new Exotic weapon as [REDACTED]. Like in previous blog posts, Bungie often uses “redacted” when teasing upcoming content. Players, as usual, start to theory-crafting about what old or new gun will be added in Season 17 or later… until someone took a peek at the Japanese version of This Week at Bungie update.
“I’ve heard this reward might be desirable for those who enjoy longer views on the battlefield. I never did snag a good roll on [REDACTED], so I’ll be spending some time in there [Trials of Osiris] this weekend.”
Instead, in the Japanese version of the blog post, the [REDACTED] part was written as 侵入者 or shinnyuusha, which translates as Trespasser. At the time of writing, Bungie already edited the Japanese blog post and changed it to [編集済み] (henshuuzumi), or “redacted/edited.” Any mention of 侵入者 is now only referring to Invader for the Gambit mode. Nevertheless, keen-eyed Guardians have preserved the mistake, as seen in the Twitter post below.

Trespasser was an Exotic Sidearm added to the first Destiny game in the Rise of Iron expansion in September 2016. Shiro-4’s kit-bashed weapon is a burst-firing Sidearm with the unusual feature of reloading after a kill granting the weapon a greater, longer burst the next time it’s fired. While it is quite effective in PvP matches, Trespasser is also popular in Crucibles as well, making it a well-rounded handgun.
Destiny 2 Guardians are now hoping that Trespasser will return in Season 17 as good as it used to be, and Shiro-4 will be coming back in future updates. Especially since the Iron Banner event is getting a revamp in Season 17, and there are a lot of story hints that players will be dealing with Rasputin, the Warmind, which was heavily featured in the Rise of Iron expansion. Everything points out to several Rise of Iron contents, so fingers crossed!
