At this point, Destiny 2 is pretty mysterious about season 18. If you think about it, they have every reason to. After all, plans are in the works for a giant showcase on the day of the season launch. Many fans are guessing what the deal is, especially after the confirmation that the game will feature another Destiny 1 raid similar to Vault of Glass. But which is it? Essentially, there are three options: King’s Fall, Wrath of the Machine, and Crota’s End. With Bungie ruling out Crotas End, we are left with the other two. This guide answers the question: Will Destiny 2 feature Wrath of the Machine? Read to find out.
Is Wrath of the Machine Coming to Destiny 2?
The no-nonsense answer is no one knows! But, the re-introduction of Wrath of the Machine has pros and cons. So, our answer will be twofold: It will cite reasons in favor of the raid and against it.
Why not Wrath of the Machine?
Currently, several things are working against the Wrath of the Machine. To begin, the raid was introduced during the Heavily SIVA-focused version. And as we all know, the host of SIVA-infected Fallen has since been heavily modified. This means that bringing back Wrath of the Machine would require Bungie to undo all the improvements just to make the raid happen. Is this a likely scenario? We don’t think so.
Also, Bungie has made available the main raid exotic from Wrath of the Machine — Outbreak Perfected. To introduce the raid again, they would have to create an entirely new exotic, which means it would be a new game. Fans might still feel at home, but there is no doubt that the user experience would suffer.
Why it might be Wrath of the Machine
Has Wrath of the Machine got anything going for it? Fans love it! And if the 18th season is Rasputin/SIVA-themed, as some folks hope, it might have a chance. Other than that, there is little else to put our faith on.
So does that leave us with King’s Fall? This guide was not about King Fall, was it? But, like it or not, we cannot wish away the huge possibility that Bungie might resort to King Fall. After all, it is one of the best classic raids in Destiny’s history. Plus, there hasn’t been a Hive-focused raid so so long.
Destiny 2 is available on PC, IOS, Android, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 platforms.
