Destiny 2‘s Season of the Wish is going to be a bit different than we’re used to, given its essential role in the overall lore surrounding the game. Not only has the season already thrown us for a loop with Bungie’s unique methods when revealing it, but it’s going to take us to places we’ve never been and reveal the 15th wish. With all the changes and interesting things going on in the Season of the Wish, we’ve gathered up everything we know so far about its upcoming release so we can all get a feel for how the season will look.
When Does Destiny 2 Season of the Wish Start?
[Updated on September 25, 2024 – updated formatting]
Bungie previously revealed the release of the Season of the Wish on November 28th, 2023 at the time of the Daily Reset. That said, there is still bit of time left to prepare, but the days are counting down quickly.
Season of the Wish Story
Quite a bit of what happened in the Season of the Wish ties directly into the Season of the Wish. We get to see some large events that occur, including the final cutscene after completing The Bladed Path, where Eris Morn resurrects Savathun, just to kill her once more. The scene couldn’t have been much more savage, but honestly, we’re living for it.
Upon completing the Imbaru Engine, a largely involved mechanic within the Season of the Witch, we discover a live Ahamkara egg. Having thought the Ahamkara were extinct, I thought this was a pretty big surprise but a good one nonetheless.
After discovering the egg, Ikora, and your Guardian discover something of grave importance: a pattern shown in Savathun’s wings that resembles the Last Wish’s Wall of Wishes. Her wings hint at the fifteenth and final wish.
New Additions Coming in Season 23
Destiny 2‘s Season of the Wish has some pretty big changes coming that we know about, but Bungie has a habit of surprising us sometimes. According to Bungie’s blog posts, we have the following to look forward to:
- A brand new Witcher x Destiny 2 collab
- Big ability changes, including Well of Radiance and Ward of Dawn tuning, and a big Stasis rework
- Changes to Banner of War and Throwing Hammer
- New Exotic Armor and Armor Mod Changes
- Fireteam Finder’s beta will launch
- Return of the Dragon’s Breath Exotic Rocket Launcher
- New Lost Sector rewards
- Ritual Weapons
- Foundry Weapons Focusing
Season of the Wish Exotic Weapon
In the upcoming Season of the Wish, we get to experience the Dragon’s Breath Exotic Rocket Launcher all again, but this time, it’ll be a bit more effective. The new and improved version of the weapon will feature perks that will create some impressive synergy with Solar 3.0 and will make for a much better weapon than it was in the previous Destiny game.

Bungie will be doing a whole bunch of balancing to Exotic Armor and their mods with the new season. Some of the less-used Exotics will be buffed with a big focus on increasing the number of melee-oriented options for all three of the Guardian classes.
Upcoming Season of the Wish Stasis Changes
The Stasis subclass is going to be quite a bit different than what we know now. There will be quite a few quality-of-life changes made to improve how reliable Stasis can be in combat while evaluating and alternating some previously made changes to Stasis abilities. The overall goal is to bring Stasis abilities up to the current abilities’ power bar. That said, Stasis is getting a much bigger tune-up than it’s had in the past, and it’s sure to be a much more effective and widely used subclass.
