Most brides prefer to keep their wedding dress with them even after the wedding is over. After all, they hold a lot of memories. This is why some women choose to give their dress to wedding preservation companies. A New York bride did this after her wedding, but she didn’t expect that she would never see her dress again. According to her, it was Vera Wang who designed her dress, and she suggested the wedding preservation company they went to, which is called Madame Paulette. The company had had the dress since 2021, and every time the bride’s parents called to ask about when they would get it back, they kept coming up with excuses. Since losing a wedding dress is heartbreaking, the bride’s parents hid the truth from her. Now that she finally knows what happened, she is trying to find her dress.
Unfortunately for the New York bride, there is a big possibility that she won’t get her dress back. After she exposed the company, several women came forward and shared how they were also scammed by them. For example, one woman discovered that the company gave her a box filled with rocks; it didn’t even have a dress inside. Another woman shared that the company sold her dress. Currently, the company’s reviews on Yelp are at 2.7 stars. It’s not just wedding dresses that they keep losing, but clothes in general. The reviews are enough to make everyone avoid that place. One person even left a review saying:
“They took an expensive jacket back to redo and even tho they claimed they had it never returned it to me. This is about the worst cleaning experience I’ve ever had. They’re dishonest thieves and anyone who takes the risk to use them is forewarned. They have no customer service and you can’t even get through to a person! Stay away.”
People Reacting to the New York Bride Getting Scammed
People were left livid after they listened to the New York woman’s story. No woman would even want to imagine losing her wedding dress. This is why one woman wrote, “This is a valid crash out and this video needs to go viral. This is unacceptable and you gotta sue them girlie.” A dry cleaner also commented and told the bride that the company is no longer the same. “Hiiiiii I’m so sorry. Madame Paulette changed ownership a few years ago and are no longer the luxury service they once were. And as a dry cleaner, your dress is likely gone (rip she was so pretty) so the only thing you can do is small claims court or Try to settle with them before court,” they said. Another woman then added, “madame paulette changed ownership and they’ve been operating a whole scam scheme.”
More comments kept showing support for the New York bride. One woman wrote that a lot of people have been talking about this scam for years. “Omg noooo there were Reddit threads on this, they’ve been scamming and selling dresses for years,” she wrote. One person also felt bad for the bride since her dress was designed by Vera Wang. “The way my jaw dropped when you mentioned it was CUSTOM Vera. I’m so so sorry,” they wrote. Others started offering advice on what the bride should do next. “Please post tons of pics of the dress if you haven’t— so ladies going to buy dresses on resale will know to look out for it,” one person wrote. Someone else said, “Have you tried reverse image searching your dress to see If it’s been posted anywhere else online or perhaps, sold?” Hopefully, she will be able to find her dress.
