The producer behind Netflix’s Castlevania series is working on a new project set in another familiar video game world. Adi Shankar revealed through Twitter he is creating a TV show based on the game, Devil May Cry.
In an interview with IGN, Shankar said he,
…acquired these (Devil May Cry) rights myself so the jabronis in Hollywood don’t f*** this one up too.”
He went on to say the series will join Castlevania in a move he’s referring to as the “bootleg multiverse.”
We have absolutely no idea what the plot will cover. Shankar didn’t go into vivid detail about the overall story for the series. IMDB lists him as producer for an “Untitled Adi Shankar Project” with an unknown release date.
Shankar shared the news on social media with a picture of Devil May Cry’s main playable character, Dante.

A day before the announcement, Shankar teased the upcoming news with a cryptic message on social media, saying,
Dear video game industry & entertainment industry. Tomorrow 1pm PST. Get ready.”
Now, there is also no word on where the new series will be available to watch. The safe bet is with Castlevania on Netflix, but that is not confirmed as of yet. It’s also worth pointing out, it is extremely early in the process and no details on the cast are out either. The next Devil May Cry game doesn’t launch until March of 2019. That gives Shankar less than four months to produce and release the upcoming series. It seems highly unlikely we will see the TV show before Devil May Cry 5.
Shankar is also in talks to adapt Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda into a television series.
Fans rallied around Netflix’s 2017 release of Castlevania. In October, the show got a second season with eight episodes. The series as a whole is made up of 12 episodes.
Fans can grab their copy of Devil May Cry 5 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC March 8, 2019.
