Did Sabrina Carpenter Just Diss Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s On And Off Relationship?
Sabrina Carpenter and Shawn Mendes were once rumored to have dated. They were romantically linked in February 2023 after being spotted together in public several times. Despite Mendes denying the dating rumors that March, fans still think the two were an item. Now, they’re more convinced than ever after hearing Short n’ Sweet.
A few songs off the record are rumored to be about Carpenter being caught in a love triangle with Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. For example, her new single “Taste” is about her ex-boyfriend getting back together with his ex-girlfriend. Throughout the song, Carpenter warns the girl that she’ll “taste” Carpenter whenever the two kiss. “I heard you’re back together and if that’s true, you’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you,” she sings.
Considering Mendes and Cabello appeared to rekindle their romance in April 2023 (two months after the rumors between Carpenter and Mendes spread in February), fans speculate “Taste” is about them.
Another track that appears to have the former couple written all over it is “Coincidence.” During the song, Carpenter mentions that her ex-boyfriend swore he was over his previous relationship. However, after she ended things with him, he immediately went back to his ex-girlfriend. Carpenter sings:
Your car drove itself from L.A. to her thighs. Palm Springs looks nice, but who’s by your side? Damn it, she looks kinda like the girl you outgrew.
