PC and modding go hand-in-hand, but some of the darker underbellies of PC video game modding involve nudity and/or pornography. For that very reason, developer studio TeamKill Media isn’t going to be bringing their Dino Crisis-esque horror game, called Code Violet, to the PC platform.
TeamKill Media took to Twitter/X recently and announced that they’re not porting Code Violet to PC in a rather detailed post. Granted, TeamKill Media’s reasoning was mostly directed at the versions of its main characters, or the human ones. They argued that they hold their voice actors and actresses and high regard and that PC gamers creating nude or vulgar mods for Code Violet would tarnish the game’s image.
Whatever sales they might generate for the hypothetical PC version are apparently not worth the extra money if their game gets modified into a joke by PC users.
It’s worth noting that there are only a few human characters in the game, and the “other” characters the studio could be referring to might as well involve the velociraptors and other dinosaurs.
What About Xbox Users?
However, some Xbox users commented on the tweet and asked why there’s no Xbox version. TeamKill Media promptly chalked it up to a lack of manpower and resources needed for an Xbox port. So both Xbox and PC users shouldn’t expect this PS5-exclusive anytime soon.
It’s worth noting that the announcement trailer for Code Violet was met with rather critical comments saying that the game’s graphics and animations look “janky” or “awful”. Some users even jokingly assumed that TeamKill Media simply does not want modders to fix the character models, hence the PC port omission.
Ironically enough, the in-game footage for the announcement trailer was captured on PC with an included watermark text saying so. That means the PC version might already be available and TeamKill Media really just doesn’t want PC gamers touching their game.
