Monsters Inc. has finally come to Disney Dreamlight Valley and with it, there’s a bunch of new quests to explore! The new Laugh Floor update, which Gameloft has been teasing for months, gives players access to new customization options, furniture, clothing, accessories, and – of course – the ability to enter the realm of Monsters Inc. and meet Mike and Sulley. The end goal is to bring them to your valley, but you’ve got some work to do first. The Escape Claws quest has you venture onto the Laugh Floor for the first time – but something’s not quite right.
How to Complete the Escape Claws Quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To begin the “Escape Claws” quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll need to unlock the Monsters Inc. realm first. Like with any other realm, you can do this by going to the Dreamlight Castle, finding the blocked door, and spending 15,000 Dreamlight to unlock it. After you’ve done this, you’re free to go back and forth, but for now, head through the door to the new realm. You’ll be in a reception area, and there’s no one else around.
Directly ahead of where you came in, you’ll see a big door. Investigate it, and you’ll find that it won’t let you on the Laugh Floor because you’re not a monster. Thankfully, this is an easy fix – you just need some wardrobe adjustments. Go back to where you entered the realm and open the storage cabinet to the left. Inside, you’ll find a clothing bag – open it to receive a Monsters Inc Hard Hat and two pairs of Monster Ears.
To build your monster disguise, go into the wardrobe menu and put on the hat and your choice of Monster Ears, which are under the “earrings” category. It’s not strictly necessary, but while you’re here we recommend checking out the skin and eye customization options that were added to the game with the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor update – they make any monster disguise look top-notch! Once you’re happy with your disguise, use your camera to take a selfie.
Now that you’re disguised, return to the door, which will let you onto the Laugh Floor. There, you’ll see Mike and Sulley surrounded by quite a mess.
Escape Claws: Cleaning Up the Laugh Floor
Head onto the Laugh Floor and talk to Sulley. He’ll welcome you to Monsters Inc. (after making sure you’re DEFINITELY a monster, not a human) and explain that he and Mike need some help keeping the place running. He’ll assign your first task as a Monsters Inc. intern: cleaning up the remains of last night’s party.
To do this, you’ll need to pick up 8 pieces of Party Trash and wash away 4 piles of Slug Slime using your Watering Can. They’re all located on the Laugh Floor, and they’re not too hard to find. Once everything is cleaned up, return to Sulley, who will thank you for your help and give you your next “Escape Claws” quest objective, straight out of Intern 101: making him and Mike coffee.
Escape Claws: Making Coffee for Mike and Sulley
Making the coffee is pretty simple, especially if you’ve already made some of the coffee recipes in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Head back to the reception area where you entered the realm and you’ll find the coffee machine off to one side of the room, next to a counter of ingredients. The recipes for Mike and Sulley’s coffee orders can be found on a note pinned to the bulletin board behind the coffee machine, but we’ve also laid them out here.
To complete Mike and Sulley’s coffee orders, you’ll need:
- The Wazowski Special: 1x Coffee, 3x Sugar, 1x Non-dairy Screamer
- Sulley’s Coffee: 5x Coffee
Gather the necessary ingredients for the coffees from the counter next to the machine, then add them to the machine to make coffee for Mike and Sulley. With both coffees in hand, return to the Laugh Floor and give both of them to Mike.
After Mike’s had his morning coffee, he’s ready to go to work. A short cutscene will play, during which the Laugh Floor will loose power, meaning Mike’s been trapped in the human realm!
Escape Claws: Restoring Power
After the cutscene ends, Sulley will explain that in order to fix this emergency, you need to find the Emergency Manual, which is somewhere on the Laugh Floor. Thankfully, it’s not too hard to find, just on top of the second desk from the Laugh Floor entrance. Return the Emergency Manual to Sulley, and he’ll explain that the next step in restoring power is to find three fuses, replace them, and fix the Power Lines.
The three fuses you need are scattered around the Laugh Floor, and you’ll be able to find them in the following locations:
- On the first desk near the Laugh Floor entrance.
- On the second-to-last desk near the back of the room.
- On top of the red cabinet next to the TV in the back of the room.
Once you’ve collected all three fuses, go back to where Sulley is standing next to the fusebox and put all three fuses in their places. Next, you’ll need to fix the power lines, which is a little simpler: for this, all you need to do is follow the big black cables on the floor, connecting them where necessary. You’ll need to move some Laugh Canister carts out of the way to get to a few of the connection points, and connect them to their wall sockets as well.
After you’ve fixed the fuses and the power lines, the power will come back on. A short custscene will play where Mike returns from the human realm. To complete the “Escape Claws” quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley, talk to Sulley one last time, where you reveal you’re actually a human from Dreamlight Valley. Sulley would be happy to come on vacation, but you can’t actually recruit him and Mike until you complete the next Disney Dreamlight Valley Monsters Inc. quest, “Eye on the Prize”, which will begin immediately after this one.
Disney Dreamlight Valley is available for PC, Mac, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and the Nintendo Switch.
