There are always angry people on the internet, and nothing proves it more than a video of two men fighting over something as ordinary as truck parking. The clip, originally uploaded by chrizrogel on Instagram before finding its way onto Reddit, shows an elderly man confronting a younger man who was recording the entire exchange on his phone. The dispute began because of where the younger man had parked his truck in Utah. The elderly man clearly did not like the location and demanded that it be moved. From there, things escalated quickly into a heated spat with verbal threats and challenges being thrown back and forth. The younger man told the old man to simply call the police if he had a problem and let them deal with it. While the elderly man eventually agreed, he also tried to provoke the younger man into hitting him, promising that if he threw a punch he would sue him for it.
The younger man thankfully resisted taking the bait, but he still lobbed his own verbal threats about punching the Utah man. The shouting match went on as the elderly man eventually returned to his truck, both men still trading insults until the end of the recording.
Usually in videos like these, it is fairly obvious which person is in the wrong. In this case, however, the Utah situation was murkier. The video did not clearly show whether the truck was parked improperly, so viewers could not know for certain whether the old man had a valid complaint. While the elderly man came across as petty and aggressive, the younger man also made himself look bad with his own hostility and threats.
Online reaction was quick to call both men out. “Both idiots,” one user wrote. Others criticized the younger man in particular, pointing out how he seemed to be baiting the elderly man intentionally. One commenter wrote, “Dude with the camera is ignorant. Don’t get me wrong, they are both over the top. But he kept baiting the old guy on purpose. So he is no better. Don’t be a dickhead and you won’t set off other people.”
At the same time, many also could not understand why the older man thought it was smart to taunt the younger man into hitting him. “That’s a nice hypothetical you’ve got there old timer. But what if he doesn’t hit you? Oh nothing will happen? Yeah that’s about right. Your cake walk through life is just about over there Clarence,” one commenter joked.
In the end, viewers agreed that neither man came out looking good. There were no adults in this argument, only two people letting their tempers flare over something trivial. The whole incident served as yet another reminder that people could stand to cool down before making a public spectacle of themselves.
