There are always consequences

You’d think people would eventually realize that their actions have consequences and that anything they do online can be traced back to them. Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen. A California boy didn’t think about that when he decided to be homophobic toward a gay person who was at Brandy Melville at The Grove. The person, named Philip, shared what happened through his TikTok account. He was celebrating his birthday with his friends and they decided to go shopping at the store. That was when he made eye contact with the guy who was there with his girlfriend. Rather than look away, the guy gave Philip a nasty look and then looked at his girlfriend and called Philip a homophobic slur. His girlfriend wasn’t any better because she laughed and then told him “Shh don’t say that.”

What the California boy said ruined Philip’s day. That’s why he decided to post a picture of the couple and ask people to help him find them. Both the guy and his girlfriend knew that Philip heard them. Instead of apologizing, they tried to avoid Philip and his friends whenever they saw them. The only good part was that the staff at the store were nice. When they knew what happened to Philip, they gave him a discount as a way to make his day better

Philip later posted an update on what happened following his initial video. Since people managed to find the California boy and his girlfriend, both of them were doxxed. Philip showed their pictures, names, and also the college they attended. Since the couple plays sports at their college, Philip also emailed their coaches about what happened. He even shared the coaches’ emails so that more people would contact them. The coaches did receive the emails and even responded that they were going to start an investigation.

Since a decent number of people saw the video, the homophobic boy ended up reaching out to Philip and tried to apologize. “Hey dude I wanted to apologize I’ll take ownership and just admit I did make a joke about how just flamboyantly gay u appeared and that was wrong. I think it was harshly misinterpreted as me calling u a slur.” Well, that’s not a very good apology since he did in fact call Philip a slur. He also asked to meet Philip so that they could talk about what happened. The boy would also “appreciate” it if Philip archived the video and left his girlfriend out of it until they meet. Philip revealed that he allegedly heard from people that the boy claimed he was lying. He was also convinced that he was only apologizing because he was getting backlash. That’s why he refused his request.

Philip believed that the apology wasn’t sincere, either. Additionally, He held the girlfriend accountable rather than leaving her alone as her boyfriend wanted since she did laugh at the slur. In his response, Philip told the boy, “Like I said karmas a [expletive] and I hope you get what’s coming to you.” He plans on posting another video too. Philip also informed the guy that he emailed both his and his girlfriend’s coaches. He is allowed to not accept the apology.

People Reacting to the California Boy Being Homophobic

Almost everyone sided with Philip and believed that the California guy and his girlfriend deserve to face consequences. This is why many people shared the couple’s names in the comments. Aside from the doxxing comments, one person wrote, “wth i’m srry .. they should be embarrassed.. happy bday btw.” Another person told Philip, “girl just move on, who cares what others think and say you can’t change them.” This made someone reply, “just move on is crazy… just because you can’t change someone doesn’t mean you have to ignore them being blatantly homophobic?? Are you okay?” One TikTok user also said, “No we shpuld bring back public shaming so. [sic]” Another user added, “Because if u just let that behavior fly then more and more ppl will think it’s okay and lgbtq youth mental health will decline even more than it already is…like can we connect some dots here??”

More people criticized the California boy and his girlfriend as they believed his apology was fake. “Flamboyantly gay is a crazy defense??? He’s so unserious, [expletive] HIM,” one person wrote. It definitely wasn’t the best choice of words. On the other hand, someone asked, “Why are you doxing them tho?” This made another person reply, “If theyre acting up and saying slurs in public comfortably like that, they should expect to suffer the consequences when caught.” One woman also said, “If they felt comfortable doing that bullying and making fun of others, they’d continue acting that way and in this chance they got repercussion messing with the wrong person it’s a good learning lesson to treat others with kindness.” The boy should have known better.
