On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so many Americans are remembering the civil rights activist for the differences he made in their lives. Marchers and paradegoers banded together to bring attention to this very important figure during a time when things are uncertain politically. One Florida woman went to a parade expecting to celebrate the life and achievements of the late activist. However, she was shocked when she instead found some brash Trump supporters.
Taylor (@idillionaire_tash) shared a video of what went down at a Martin Luther King Jr. parade in Collier County, Florida. In the video, Taylor approaches a float that says “America’s 260th Anniversary” on the side. However, what’s really astounding is the fact that the float is decked out with an enormous Trump flag. She accuses them immediately, saying, “Y’all at the wrong parade” and threatens to blast them on social media.
One of the women on the float in a ‘Freedom’ shirt tries to talk down to her and the float continues on down the road. Taylor tells the paradegoers, “I don’t think Martin Luther King Jr. would like this.” She explains to them that they’re disrespecting her ancestors. It’s at that point that the woman in the ‘Freedom’ shirt tries to stand up for herself but fails miserably. She says, “My parents immigrated here from North Africa.” Taylor demands, “Why are you representing Trump?!”
Apparently, they have no answer for Taylor. They continue on down the road as the rest of the parade carries on. It makes you wonder how they were approved to participate in the parade in the first place. As Taylor explains on her own post, “When you disrespect my people, you disrespect me!”
It’s hilarious the extent they’ll go to as they try to back themselves up. The woman in the ‘Freedom’ shirt really thought she had something, trying to tell a black woman that her own ancestors are from Africa. However, she was misinformed. As one commenter stated, “They didn’t read the room. You go Ma’am. Tell em.” Other TikTokers questioned, “WHOO approved of this??” Taylor saw a moment to stand up for what was right and matched their energy 100%.
