As the model for intergalactic time travelers, The Doctor from Doctor Who has met a lot of people and been in a lot of really historical moments. Over the course of its fifteen-season run, the revived version of Dr. Who has had cameos from Elizabeth I, Albert Einstein, Vincent Van Gogh, Henry Avery, Charles Dickens – the list goes on. The newest season, featuring Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor, will be no different, as a new poster features the Doctor and his companion going where they’ve never gone before, meeting the Beatles.
New Dr. Who Poster Adds The Doctor to The Beatles’ Lineup
Dr. Who, like a lot of other time-traveling sci-fi shows, has a habit of putting the Doctor – and their chosen companion – into wacky scenarios where they get to bump elbows with a who’s-who list (pun intended) of historical figures. The first real-life figure introduced on the show was Marco Polo, back in the Classic Who era, but since then the show’s roster of real historical figures has expanded to include kings, queens, US Presidents, scientists, writers, and a very touching episode about Vincent Van Gogh.
One area the Doctor and the TARDIS haven’t touched thus far is music, but the new series looks like its going to change that. Doctor Who series 14, scheduled to release next month, has just put out a new poster showing the world-famous members of British pop band The Beatles – John, Paul, Ringo, and George – alongside Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor and his companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson). The image was reportedly featured on the cover of Doctor Who Magazine, and while we didn’t get any context for the image it’s probably safe to assume Ruby, the Doctor, and the TARDIS are headed to the UK at some point in the 1960s.
More information regarding the new season of Dr. Who will likely become available as we get closer to its premiere date on May 11th.
