Xenomorphs are wreaking havoc yet again in Alien: Romulus. Directed by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead), the film follows a group who try to scavenge their way off a planet. Unfortunately for them, they run into some aliens on what’s supposed to be an in-and-out job. Set between Alien and Aliens, Romulus stars Cailee Spaeny (Civil War), David Jonsson (Industry), and Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold). As the seventh mainline entry in the franchise, you might be wondering if it has any stingers that connect to previous films. So, let’s see if Alien: Romulus has a post-credits scene. Here is our full review of the film itself.
Is There a Post-Credits Scene in Alien: Romulus?
If you need to run off to the bathroom because you were a little too scared during the film’s final act, feel free to do so, because Alien: Romulus does not have a post-credits scene. Once the credits begin there are no extra scenes or stingers that allude to a sequel. There are also no bloopers or anything after the credits that tie Romulus to one of the other Alien movies. However, there are plenty of ties in the film itself, so make sure to keep an eye out if you’re a hardcore Alien fan.
The lack of any post-credits scenes means you can leave the theater right when the credits begin, although you could always watch the credits if you wish. There is one particular credit you may want to keep an eye out for – regarding one of the characters in the film – but we won’t spoil that here. As for the lack of a post-credits scene, you should always remember that most films don’t need them. Most of the other Alien movies end on open-ended notes, with a path for a sequel. Romulus isn’t too different, in that a sequel seems possible, but it doesn’t necessarily need one.
A stinger or blooper would feel out of place at the end of this film. It’s fairly atmospheric, and it ends quite strongly. So, anything to break the audience out of that feeling – even if it was during or after the credits – would be inadvisable. As for whether or not we’ll see more from Alien, we’ve seen seven of these films already, surely an eighth wouldn’t hurt.
You can catch Alien: Romulus in theaters from August 16, 2024.
