Witness the chaotic world of Pandora in Borderlands. Directed by Eli Roth (Thanksgiving), Borderlands is an action-adventure film based on the popular video game franchise of the same name. It stars Cate Blanchett (Thor: Ragnarok), Kevin Hart (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie), Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), and Jack Black as the voice of Claptrap. As it is based on a series of games, you might be wondering if there are any extra scenes at the end of the film that set up a sequel. So, let’s see whether or not Borderlands has a post-credits scene.
Is There a Post-Credits Scene in Borderlands?
You will want to stay in your seat once the movie ends because Borderlands does have a post-credits scene. The scene is more of a comedic stinger that takes place right after the initial stylized credits which are in the signature Borderlands font. After the comedic beat, the rest of the credits play out and there are no extra scenes beyond that point. The short stinger is a fun meta nod for those who have played the games, regarding one of the characters in the movie.
So, once that stinger plays you can feel free to leave the theater and give your ushers a break, unless you want to stick around and watch the names of the people who worked on the movie. In the case of Borderlands, a comedic stinger as a post-credits scene was the right move. Sure, a sequel could have been teased, but with the production issues this movie faced, a sequel does seem unlikely.
However, they could easily have thrown in one or two characters from the games that didn’t appear in the movie as a shoutout to the fans. We also could have used a look at what happened to one of the characters at the end of the movie considering their fate is shown off-screen, but we’ll refrain from divulging anything else in case you don’t want the movie spoiled for you. A blooper reel also probably wasn’t the best idea considering how nearly every shot seems like a visual effects bonanza. Ultimately, the post-credits scene does seem in line with the ending of the games.
