Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) stars in It Ends With Us, a romantic drama based on the Colleen Hoover book by the same name. It also stars Justin Baldoni (Jane the Virgin) and Brandon Sklenar (The Offer) while Baldoni also directed the film. It follows a woman named Lily (Lively) who opens a flower shop and falls in love with a man named Ryle (Baldoni), before running into her childhood love Atlas (Sklenar). As it’s based on a novel, you might be wondering if there are any extra scenes teasing a sequel. So, let’s see whether or not It Ends With Us has a post-credits scene.
Is There a Post-Credits Scene in It Ends With Us?
It Ends With Us does not have a post-credits scene. Once the film ends and the credits begin to roll there are no extra scenes. There are no comedic stingers or anything that sets up a sequel. However, it’s not as if It Ends With Us needed a post-credits scene because it ends on a fairly concrete note. We know where all the characters end up by the time we see the credits.
As for a sequel to the film, the chances seem pretty good. Fans of the book would know that Hoover did write a sequel to It Ends With Us, called It Starts With Us. Published in 2022, It Starts With Us is set after the events of the first book, and it follows the same characters. So, if there is interest, there’s already a plot to follow if those involved wish to return for a second outing.
Any chance of a sequel being made relies on the financial success of It Ends With Us. The film has been doing well in pre-sales so far, and it is currently predicted to take in as high as $50 million in its opening weekend. With a budget of $25 million, a $50 million opening would be a great result. We know that Lively isn’t opposed to sequels, with a sequel to A Simple Favor currently in the works. But, we will ultimately need to wait to see if It Starts With Us will be adapted next.
You can catch It Ends With Us in theaters on August 9, 2024.
