After many years, Tobin Bell has finally made his return as the main killer in a Saw movie. Bell reprises the role of John Kramer aka Jigsaw in Saw X, the tenth entry in the popular horror franchise. Directed by Kevin Greutert, the movie acts as both a sequel to the original film and a prequel to Saw II. Because of its placement in the franchise, you might be wondering if Saw has any scenes after the credits, setting up a future film. So, let’s take a look at whether Saw X has a post-credits scene.
Is There a Post-Credits Scene in Saw X?
When the title comes up again at the end of the film, don’t rush off to the bathroom just yet as Saw X does include a post-credits scene in a franchise first. You won’t need to wait too long until the extra scene pops up either, as it plays right after the short main cast credits. After that short scene plays, you are free to leave the theater as there is only one post-credits scene. Although you could always stay to watch the names of the people who worked on the movie scroll by.
Even though Saw X does have a post-credits scene, it’s worth looking at how vital the scene is to the overall story of the movie, and more importantly, whether or not it sets up any future entries. Be warned, the next section contains spoilers for the post-credits scene.
Does Saw X Set up Another Saw Movie?
Unfortunately, there is nothing in the movie that overtly sets up a Saw XI. The film sees John try to find a cure for his cancer, only to be conned into a fake treatment. So, he does what he knows best and prepares a game for those involved. At the beginning of the film, John attends a support group meeting for those suffering from cancer. Henry Kessler (Michael Beach), someone suffering from stage four cancer, attends the meeting and then runs into John sometime later, informing him of the miracle treatment that cured him. After he realizes that he has been conned, John figures out who exactly was involved and exacts his revenge.
In the post-credits scene, it’s revealed that John captured him when he returned to America, seemingly locking him up in the Gideon Meatpacking Plant. After being suspiciously absent from the film, Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) makes his return to the franchise in the post-credits scene, as he helps John set up Henry’s game. But this doesn’t point to a future entry unless they plan on another film focusing on Henry’s game, which seems unlikely. For the time being, Saw X seems like the last of Jigsaw’s adventures. You can catch Saw X in theaters now.
