Does The Exorcism Have a Post-Credits Scene?

Russell Crowe (Gladiator) stars as fictional actor Anthony Miller in The Exorcism. Directed by Joshua John Miller, it’s a horror movie in which the production of a film about an exorcism is haunted by a demon. Alongside Crowe, it also stars Ryan Simpkins (Fear Street: Part Two – 1978), David Hyde Pierce (Frasier), Chloe Bailey (Grown-Ish), Sam Worthington (Avatar), and Adam Goldberg (Saving Private Ryan). As it is a horror film, you might be wondering if there’s anything extra after the credits teasing a sequel. So, let’s see if The Exorcism has a post-credits scene.

Is There a Post-Credits Scene in The Exorcism?

Once the credits begin you can leave the theater knowing that you won’t be missing anything because The Exorcism does not have a post-credits scene. It’s not a particularly long movie, coming in at 93 minutes, but if you do need to go to the bathroom once the credits begin, feel free to do so. There are no sequel teases, final scares, or bloopers. So, unless you want to look at the names of all the folks who worked on the movie, you can leave the theater whenever you’d like.

It’s not as if The Exorcism needs a post-credits scene. It doesn’t seem like the type of horror movie to get a sequel, so there’s nothing it had to set up. It also ends fairly decisively, with no loose threads left to tie up. Of course, Russell Crowe is already a part of a similar horror franchise, as the main character of The Pope’s Exorcist, which was released in 2023. With a sequel to that film coming, it makes the idea of a sequel to The Exorcism all the more unlikely.

However, it is show business, so if The Exorcism does make enough money, we could always see a follow-up. But, the concept of a demonic possession taking place while you’re making a movie about a possession is fairly original so it might be better to leave this one alone as a standalone horror film. Not everything needs to be a franchise, right? With that being said, the movie could have used one final jumpscare right at the end of the film. Where are all the scary post-credits scenes?

You can watch The Exorcism when it comes to theaters on June 21, 2024.
