Does The Watchers Have a Post-Credits Scene?

Do you need to watch until the end?

The Watchers is a horror movie written and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan (Servant), based on the book of the same name by A.M. Shine. It stars Dakota Fanning (War of the Worlds), Georgina Campbell (Barbarian), Olwen Fouéré (The Northman), and Oliver Finnegan (Outlander). The Watchers follows a group of people who live in a shelter in a forest, as they are trapped by mysterious creatures that come out at night to watch them. As it is a horror movie you might be wondering if there’s anything after the credits setting up a sequel. So let’s see if The Watchers has a post-credits scene.

If you are waiting in the theater, feel free to leave once the credits begin to roll, as The Watchers does not have a post-credits scene. Of course, you could stay in the theater and watch the names of all the hardworking people who made the movie, but there are no extra scenes or stingers that you’ll need to stay in your seat for. So, if your bladder can’t handle the 102-minute runtime, you can run off to the bathroom without agonizing over whether or not you missed anything.

Just because The Watchers doesn’t have a post-credits scene, it doesn’t mean it needed one. The film ends on a fairly final note, one that leaves the story open but doesn’t overtly set up a sequel. It’s not the type of cheesy horror movie to have a blooper reel at the end either. At the end of the day, movies don’t need to have post-credits scenes, especially if there isn’t a purpose for them.

As for a sequel, as we said earlier, the door is left open for one. The Watchers might not seem like the type of horror movie that screams franchise potential, considering most of the main narrative comes to a natural conclusion by the film’s end. However, the movie is based on a book, and Shine has written a sequel to The Watchers called Stay in the Light that’s set to release later this year. So, if the book is well-received and The Watchers does well at the box office, we could see a sequel sometime in the future.

As for now, you can get scared yourself when The Watchers releases in theaters on June 7, 2024.
