Starring Glen Powell (Anyone But You) and Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), Twisters is a sequel to the 1996 disaster film, Twister. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), the film’s premise is similar to the original as it follows groups of people led by meteorologists who attempt to study tornadoes by getting their equipment near or inside them. But, that means they need to chase them first. As it’s a sequel, you might wonder if the film has anything after the credits tying it back to the original. So let’s see whether or not Twisters has a post-credits scene.
Is There a Post-Credits Scene in Twisters?
If you want to see everything the movie has to show you, stay in your seat because Twisters does have a post-credits scene. However, you don’t need to wait until the end of the credits to see the bonus scene. While the first set of credits plays – right after the movie finishes – you’ll see glimpses of what the characters end up doing after the film, through an article. When that’s finished a short scene plays before the main credits begin. There’s nothing at the very end, so you can leave the theater once that short scene is finished.
Of course, you can also stay and watch the credits if you want to read the names of everybody who worked on the film. If you wait until the end you’ll see a dedication that reads, “In loving memory, Han Gil Chung.” The father of filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung, Han Gil Chung passed away in 2023. His story was one of the inspirations for Lee Isaac Chung’s film Minari, as it is semi-autobiographical.
As for whether or not Twisters has any direct ties to the original, other than some images and the use of similar technology, it doesn’t. Twisters isn’t interested in continuing the stories of Jo and Bill from the original film. Instead, new characters take more advanced versions of the technology that was used in Twister to tell a new story. Albeit, one that is extremely similar to the original movie. Ultimately, it didn’t really need any cameos to stand strong as a separate film. But, it would’ve been awesome to see what Helen Hunt’s Jo was up to now.
You can catch Twisters when it flies into theaters on July 19, 2024.
