In a press release earlier today, Bethesda Softworks gave DOOM, the popular 2016 demon-slaying shooter, an official release date for the Nintendo Switch. DOOM will hit the hybrid console on November 10, 2017.

Doom and Nintendo fans have known about the upcoming Switch port since the Nintendo Direct on September 13. Now, just over a month later, they have the all-important date.

In conjunction with this news, Nintendo released a new id Software developer video in which creative director Hugo Martin and executive producer Marty Stratton discuss their work on the Switch port with developer Panic Button and highlight the various features available on the Switch version.

The Switch port will include every difficulty mode for the single-player campaign, including Ultra-Nightmare Mode. It will also have the score-based Arcade Mode, as well as every multiplayer mode and map which had been previously released as DLC.

This version will mark the first time in 20 years that a Doom game has graced a Nintendo console, going all the way back to the release of DOOM 64 on the Nintendo 64 in March of 1997.

Stratton took time to address the game’s performance on the Switch hardware.

We knew we had a very scalable engine… most of the technical sites that evaluated it talked about how scalable it was and how many options we gave players. In bringing it to the Switch, we worked with developer named Panic Button that has a lot of experience with Nintendo hardware. They’re kind of experts on the Nintendo Switch. They took that and ran with it, and really tailored the experience and the tech for that hardware, without watering anything down… We did target 30 frames a second because we wanted a target we could confidently hit and know that the gameplay was solid and fast and fluid at that framerate. It’s really remarkable and visually stunning. We wouldn’t put it in people’s hands if we weren’t proud of it and didn’t think it was the best possible representation of DOOM.

Long-time fans of the franchise and Nintendo fans alike will have the chance to experience this acclaimed shooter on November 10.
