The Emmy nominated HBO Max show will be back patrolling the world starting September 23. The first three episodes will be available to stream on HBO Max, but you will have to wait for the rest to be released as they will be released every Thursday after the first three premieres. All the way up until November 11. Here’s a brief synopsis of what will be in store for the superpowered freaks we absolutely adore in the upcoming Doom Patrol season 3:
Season three opens on the culmination of Dorothy’s confrontation with the Candlemaker that leads to a devastating loss. The Doom Patrol is at a difficult crossroads and each member struggles to face who they are and who they want to be. And things get a whole lot more complicated when Madame Rouge arrives in a time machine with a very specific mission, if only she could remember it.”
1, 2, 3, Doom…
Doom Patrol premiered back on February 15, 2019, on the now-debunked DC Universe streaming provider. Then, in August of 2020, HBO Max announced that all the remaining original content from DC Universe will be moved to HBO Max. This of course began the following month. DC Universe was then turned into DC Universe Infinite which only offers digital comic book subscriptions which started in late January of 2021. DC’s home, HBO Max, has been the place to go to find everything new in the DC world.
The Future Is Now
With Doom Patrol season 3 premiering shortly, I wanted to look back at how far steaming providers have come.
It feels as though streaming providers are now getting into a norm that we had only seen before with broadcast television. The old one episode a week deal that went on for decades. But when streaming providers first started peddling in their own original content, it was just released, whole-sale, so you can cram an entire season on a lonely Saturday night. I kinda like the in-between approach taken recently by streaming providers, they’ll give you a handful of episodes, then make you wait for the rest.
