If you didn’t know, this weekend was huge for Dragon Ball as it was packed with announcements for several of its products, mainly anime and video games. While all of these reveals were great, with some stealing the spotlight from others, one has divided the fan base: the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Beerus show. This anime, which will revisit some of the first arcs of Super, will bring visual enhancements, sound improvements, and other features to celebrate the beginning of one of the show’s best sagas. However, some fans are not too happy about the remake.
Dragon Ball Super Fans Can’t Decide If They Are Excited or Upset
Many of us already knew about the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus anime, which we could certainly consider a remake, as it is bringing, according to the trailer’s description, “features visuals, sound, and structure that have all been renewed with cutting-edge visual enhancements.”
And while all of that is great, especially since the first season of the show (not the movie) had somewhat questionable animation, several fans believe that this arc didn’t need another remake. Yet, on the other hand, many believe this might be a way to fill a gap while the studio works on the next big Galactic Patrol arc.
In any case, fans are torn due to this announcement and the new trailer. Several think that more Dragon Ball is always good. Others, however, believe that this arc didn’t need a remake at all, especially since we’ve already seen it in a movie and on the show, and now, we’ll get to see it for the third time.
“It doesn’t look too bad, but we didn’t need another remake of this.”
“This re-re-release would make sense if they’d bother making better animations… like OG style or like Broly’s movie.“
On the other hand, a few others think that this might be great and serve as a refresher for the upcoming arcs, which are also among the best in the whole Super saga.
“It’s great to see beautiful art and excellent animation for this remake!“
In the end, and as many others put it, it is always a good anime season if we get some Dragon Ball, especially if this show could be the one that redeems one of the most controversial arcs of Super, speaking solely on its animation. So, if you want to revisit this arc, the show is set to premiere during the Fall 2026 season.
