Getting your official permit to cross the Battahl border in Dragon’s Dogma 2 opens up so many more quests; in fact, you can pick up Mercy Among Thieves right off the bat. Not to mention a rather dark quest called Short Sighted Ambition when you hit Bakbattahl. Anyway, you’ll be tasked with investigating the Coral Snakes and their hideout. They’ve been hassling anyone on the main road, so much so ox drivers refuse to travel. It has a real consequence to the world, so it’s time to beat some sense into the Coral Snakes.

Mercy Among Thieves Quest Walkthrough (DD2)

To get this show on the road, you can start Mercy Among Thieves in DD2 by speaking with Tobias, just on the other side of the Battahl gateway. He’ll direct you to Lyssandro, who will break down the situation:

  • Speak with survivors who’ve had run-ins with the Coral Snakes
  • Find the Coral Snakes’ base of operations
  • Decimate the Coral Snakes for good

Now, backtrack to Checkpoint Rest Town and look for a boy by the name of Toumi. He wanders all over town, but I found him by turning right (with the Battahl border at my back) and following the stone path into town. You can get him to talk by offering food (that isn’t rotten), twice. Just be careful to avoid the apothecary, triggering the escort quest Prey for the Pack.

Pass through the Battahl border again and make your way south, but keep to the main road. You’ll come across several NPCs, like Seferinno, who will tell you more of the bandits’ presence, but eventually you run into the Coral Snakes themselves.

When they see you, they’re going to make a run for it into a nearby cave. Take the path on the left; the right is a dead end. You’ll come to yet another crossroad; take the one on the right to find the gates to the Coral Snakes’ hideout.

From here on out it’s just wild. Take out the guards at the gate, then wipe out the rest for good. You’ll even get extra help from the guards, Tobias and Benjamin, whom you spoke to earlier.

For completing Mercy Among Thieves in DD2, you’ll make an easy 8000 gold, and don’t forget to turn every rock for loot. Oh, and the young Coral Snake that escaped your grasp, Hugo—you’ll run into later during the quest Off the Pilfered Path.
