Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant dropped some pure internet comedy this week over Hugh’s banter about Drew’s singing. Hugh mentioned Drew Barrymore’s horrendous singing during a recent interview. In return, the actress dedicated a line from their duet to him. Get the details below.
Hugh Grant Jokes About Drew Barrymore’s Horrendous Singing
Drew Barrymore is playfully responding to recent remarks made by Hugh Grant that slammed her singing ability.
Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant were in the 2007 romcom Music & Lyrics. The duo sang a duet in the film Way Back into Love, which Hugh referred to recently.
The 62-year-old English actor recently sat down for an interview with Wired alongside Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez. One of the questions directed to Hugh asked if he really sang in real life or used auto-tune. In response, Hugh responded that he sang, although he used a little auto-tune.
Hugh then proceeded to throw a little jab at Drew. He said he knew some people, on the other hand, who relied heavily on technology to sound good.
“Drew Barrymore was in that film with me and I don’t think she’d mind me saying her singing is just horrendous,” Hugh joked. “I’ve heard dogs bark better than she sings.”
However, he admitted that she sounded way better than him because “she’s got heart and voice and rock ‘n’ roll,” although her voice was more auto-tuned.
Drew Barrymore’s Response To Hugh Grant’s Quip
After Hugh joked about Drew Barrymore’s horrendous singing, the Charlie’s Angels star took to her social media to return the favor.
Drew shared a playful video of her singing their duet on Instagram. “Oh, Hugh-bert, Hubert, that’s for you,” she said after belting out a few lines. She captioned the post, “#SingForHughGrant JOIN ME.”
Hugh’s comments about his 2007 co-star came shortly after he came under fire last week. Many blasted the actor for his awkward, viral red-carpet interview with Ashley Graham ahead of Sunday’s Oscars ceremony.
The Paddington actor seemed to be in no mood to joke around during the interview. He noticeably gave short, glib answers to her questions before finally rolling his eyes at her after the interview.
Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant’s banter drew smiles from many who found their interaction quite humorous. Thankfully, Drew found her co-star’s reference to her horrendous singing funny and reacted in turn.
