Long-time friends Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler often appeared as co-stars from the 1980s to the last decade. Drew and Adam’s movies also usually seemed tailored for the duo with their on-screen chemistry. Meanwhile, Drew wants both of them to shoot another movie after a long leave of absence. Get the details below.
Drew Barrymore Wants Another Drew And Adam Movie
Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler might be back on the big screen together soon. The eponymous talk show host desperately wants another Drew and Adam movie.
Drew spoke to ET at the Mark Twain Honors in Washington D.C. Sunday. She told the news outlet that she and Adam are actively seeking their next project together.
“We might have mentioned something about it this morning,” Drew teased. “We’re actively seeking.”
The Poison Ivy actress said she wouldn’t spill too many details. However, she revealed that she and Adam are working on finding that perfect “alchemy” before bringing anything to the big screen.
Drew shared it is important for her and Adam to “hook into it” when asked what the two are up to next. She explained that they don’t want to repeat something they have done before. However, she and Adam will not do something different to prove they are looking in other directions.
“It’s like an alchemy, you know?” The Miss You Already star said. “And it’ll be a little of this, a little of that.”
She continued, “I will say this: Adam and I seem to really know it when we know it. And we’re like, ‘This is it.'”
Drew Barrymore Gushes Over Adam
Drew admitted that finding the right mix for a Drew and Adam movie isn’t just about finding a project. She disclosed that she and the Uncut Gems star sometimes drop their input into making something tailored just for them.
The Santa Clarita Diet actress explained that they do that to make their movies “personal, even though it’s not us up there.” She said all that’s left for her and Adam is to find those characters that speak to their “belief system” as artists.
The Music and Lyrics star also gushed over her friend. Adam received the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday. The Fever Pitch actress told the news outlet that the Murder Mystery 2 actor just has that “something.”
She praised comedians, calling them the “most vital” beings on earth. Drew also lauded comedians for their courage to make people laugh.
“They find a boldness. They find a humor. They find a sharp wit that they hone in as their skill that’s so unique to them.”
She continued, “Each comedian, I think, has that certain something about them. And Sandler, he’s so Sandler. Sandler is so Sandler.”
Drew also dedicated her weekly “Sunday Buffet” Instagram post to Adam on Sunday. She shared a series of throwback pics of the two over the years.
“A #SundayBuffet to honor @adamsandler who has changed me and the world with his comedy, and so much more,” she wrote.
Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler first worked together in 1998’s The Wedding Singer. They also teamed up for 2004’s 50 First Dates before 2014’s Blended.
