A terrifying incident unfolded on a busy Michigan road recently, as a driver experienced a medical emergency while navigating through a construction zone. The chaotic footage, shared on TikTok, quickly went viral, showing a white car swerving erratically between lanes, hitting cones, driving into a ditch, and narrowly avoiding other vehicles.

The incident occurred near the Fruit Ridge Exit, during a particularly busy time when construction slowed traffic in the area. The driver’s erratic behavior was so alarming that a witness, who was recording the scene, immediately called 911. “They’re going all over. They hit poles. All over the place,” the concerned caller reported, as the white car swerved dangerously from one lane to another.
Multiple 911 calls flooded the dispatchers as witnesses described the scene as “terrifying” and even “worse than drunk driving.” However, the presence of the construction zone made it difficult for emergency responders to reach the scene quickly. Witnesses also noted that something appeared to be dragging under the car, adding to the confusion and danger.
One white SUV, recognizing the potential danger, pulled in behind the erratic driver with its hazards on, attempting to block other vehicles from passing in order to keep everyone as safe as possible. Despite the efforts, the situation continued to escalate, with the white car eventually coming to a stop on the road.
TikToker Shares Follow-Up Video as Driver Struggles to Stay Conscious
In a follow-up video, the TikToker who had been documenting the incident shared more details of the harrowing moment. “When we approached the car, she was head-bobbing, slurred speech, eyes barely open,” the user explained. “We were able to get her to put the car in park. But she wasn’t able to open the door. We were able to reach through the crack of the window to open the door and take the keys out.”
The driver was unable to answer questions coherently, struggling to say her name, and when asked if she had diabetes or was using drugs, she shook her head in denial. The witness expressed their concern for the driver’s well-being, adding, “We really don’t have much more info but did wait for the ambulance to arrive and for her to be taken away on a stretcher. Really hoping she’s ok. And so thankful she didn’t hurt anyone.”
Emergency personnel eventually arrived, and the driver was safely taken to the hospital for treatment. The incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly things can go wrong on the road, and the importance of remaining vigilant and ready to assist in such dangerous situations.

As of now, the cause of the driver’s medical emergency remains unclear, but authorities are likely to investigate further. Thankfully, no other vehicles were involved in the near-disastrous incident, and the driver’s actions in blocking traffic, along with the quick thinking of witnesses, helped prevent further harm.
Viewers Express Relief That No One Was Hurt
The video of the event continues to circulate, with viewers expressing their shock and relief that no one was injured. One comment read, “This is so scary, I hope they are okay.” Another viewer added, “Omg how terrifying, prayers everyone is okay.” Some commenters speculated about the driver’s condition, with one noting, “Could be diabetic… people don’t realize that you can hallucinate and be completely out of it when your blood sugar is out of whack.”
A commenter pointed out the quick-thinking of the white SUV driver, saying, “The white truck/SUV with the hazards was tacking up the other lane trying to block others from coming up on them to pass. Probably off-duty EMT or firefighter.” The original TikToker who captured the incident on video added, “Ya we were all blocking others from passing. A car kept trying to go around us.”
The incident also highlights the critical role of bystanders in ensuring safety and assisting during emergency situations. We can only hope for the driver’s swift recovery and that this unsettling event serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of medical emergencies on the road.
