At this point, it feels like there’s always something strange happening at Dollar Tree. Arguments, fights, and wild encounters seem to be part of the shopping experience there. One recent example comes from Florida, where a man caused a major scene inside a Dollar Tree store.
A customer who witnessed the incident recorded what happened and shared the story online. According to them, the man walked in drunk and tried to buy some candles. The cashier on duty was a teenage girl, and instead of keeping a respectful distance, he started leaning in close to her face. She had to tell him to step back.
As she began ringing up his items, he demanded that she wrap each candle in three separate bags. It was a strange request, and when she politely offered to use two bags instead, he didn’t take it well.
The Florida man then began yelling at the poor teenage cashier, pointing his finger at her and demanding that she do as he said. Seeing how aggressive he was being, the customer who had been filming decided to step in to defend her, but the man immediately snapped at him to stay out of it. As things escalated, the store manager arrived.
The video began around this point, showing the man shouting at the customer, “And if I want five bags, what the hell business is it of yours? Shut up!” It was obvious that he was drunk. The manager calmly tried to de-escalate the situation and even apologized, but he told her not to and started blaming both the cashier and the customer instead. The customer stood his ground and defended the teenage girl, saying she hadn’t done anything wrong.
“No one is trying to instigate with you. We’re all just trying to calm you down,” the manager told him gently. The man then blurted out that his mother had just died, but the manager, still composed, reminded him that grief didn’t excuse his behavior. She was right. “I’m not being loud and rude,” he argued, even though his shouting proved otherwise. When he called the customer a “bastard,” the manager stepped in again, telling him he had no right to talk to others that way. The drunk man then started pointing his finger in the manager’s face, but thankfully, the customer intervened again, telling him to back off.
At this point, it was clear there was no reasoning with him. He kept interrupting the manager, who somehow stayed patient through it all. Out of nowhere, he claimed that he had spent 38 years in customer service at Disney World management. Ironically, the actual manager in the room was the one showing true professionalism. When she calmly told him that he was being loud, he shot back, “You bet your [expletive] I am.” He then pointed at the person filming and shouted, “You better shut your goddamn mouth!” even though no one had said a word to him.
Finally, the manager had enough. When he tried to pay, she told him firmly, “We are not serving you after how rude you’ve been. You’ve been yelling at me, pointing your finger, and accusing my employees and customers of being disrespectful.” Instead of backing down, he continued shouting, demanding she check the cameras, which wouldn’t have changed a thing.
Another customer eventually stepped in and told him to leave. That’s when the man suddenly tried to apologize, but the manager stood her ground, saying it was too late. Rather than just leaving, he turned back toward her and threatened, “You’re not even gonna have a job tomorrow night.” He then added, “God damn you, son of a [expletive].”
As he finally started heading toward the exit, he couldn’t resist one last outburst, telling the young cashier that she’d lose her job too. That’s when the manager warned him that she would call the police if he didn’t leave. The situation dragged on until another customer physically pushed him out of the store.
Hopefully, that man stays far away from any alcohol and from Dollar Tree for a very long time.
People Reacting to the Drunk Florida Man
People immediately pointed out that the Florida man was clearly drunk. “The guy is obviously drunk,” one person wrote. Others wondered why no one had called the police. “Why isn’t anyone calling the cops? Drunk and disorderly,” another commented. Someone else agreed, adding, “They could actually call the cops on him. He could be arrested for public intoxication. He’s causing a scene and this could end badly for someone.”
Many viewers also praised the two male customers who stood up for the teenage employee. “Men who call out other men for treating women badly… we need more of you,” one woman wrote. Another commented, “Shout out to these men standing up for the employees.”
One person even singled out the man who physically removed the drunk customer from the store, saying, “That gentleman in the gray is an ANGEL! Thank you for being you!”
One woman tried to excuse the Florida man’s behavior by pointing to what he was going through. “This man is clearly out of line. But… he said his mama just died. We should, as humans, be praying for the lost, not making fun of them. I think the cashier did amazing handling the situation, but the comment section did not pass the vibe check,” she wrote.
That prompted another person to respond, “Plenty of people face unimaginable tragedies every day and don’t act like this. There’s literally no excuse for this behavior.”
And they’re right. Nothing excuses the way he treated everyone in that store, especially the manager, who remained calm and respectful through it all. People should always be held accountable for their actions, no matter what they’re going through.
