Duke Nukem 3D is a classic among first-person shooters, best known for its crude humor and over the top shooting. It’s gone on to spawn several sequels of varying quality, including a myriad of canceled games. Regardless of your opinion of them, it’s hard to argue just how infamous the series is. Thanks to that infamy, Gearbox Publishing has announced today that Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour is making its way to Nintendo Switch on June 23rd, 2020. This is finally the chance for Switch owners to try the classic that started it all and is an opportunity you don’t want to pass up.

Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour takes the original 1996 game and adds plenty of new things too. You have your classic one-liners from the series protagonist and Bobby Prince’s iconic soundtrack, but with a new episode. This contains eight new levels, all crafted by Richard “Levelord” Gsdrey and Allen H. Blum III, original designers of Duke Nukem 3D. There’s also Nintendo Switch specific features like gyroscopic aiming, local wireless multiplayer, HD rumble, and more.

“I joined the Duke Nukem 3D development team in the mid-nineties and am proud to have been a part of the emergence of the 3D First Person video game genre that would enhance the entire video game industry,” said Randy Pitchford, founder of Gearbox. “This project has made it possible for us to reconnect with first-person pioneers Allen, Richard, Lee, Jon, Ken, Bobby, and others”. The creators of the project seem very excited to be a part of it, and hopefully, it lives up to that excitement when the game comes to Nintendo Switch next week.

That’s not all though. If you purchase Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour before July 7th, you get the game at 50% off. Be sure to hop onto the Switch eShop and grab it when you can. Are you excited about this 20th-anniversary edition of the classic? Any other classic games you enjoy to this day? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
