I thought it was common sense that theft almost always ends badly for the ones who try it. Time and time again, the internet is full of examples proving why stealing is a terrible idea. Well, two reckless Black teens in Washington, D.C., learned that lesson the hard way after attempting to steal from a grocery store.
Let’s just say things didn’t go as planned. Security quickly intervened, and both teens ended up getting maced after their failed attempt. Predictably, they were left crying in pain, a scene that bystanders wasted no time filming. Their breakdown was caught from multiple angles as they writhed and shouted.
This is probably an experience they’ll never forget, and hopefully one they’ll never try to repeat. Because if there’s one thing that’s certain, next time might not end with just a can of mace.
In the video filmed of what happened, you can see one of the two Washington DC teens on the ground while two security guards are around him. He keeps crying and saying, “My f**king eyes.” At least the guards were kind enough to pour some milk over his face to help with the pain. He keeps begging for more milk, and the security guards give it to him. Throughout the video, he keeps pouring milk and sobbing in pain. His partner, though, is not crying like he is. While the situation is unfortunate, and I’m sure that being maced definitely hurts, they are the ones at fault. No one told them to try to steal. Even if they needed food, they might have received it if they had asked for help nicely.
People Reacting to the Washington DC Teens
Almost no one felt sorry for the two Washington DC teens. In fact, a lot of people were delighted by the way they were treated. Since one of them kept crying, one person wrote, “What a crybaby.” Someone else believed that he should pay for the milk they gave him as they said, “Make him pay for the milk too.” People didn’t just want them to pay, but to clean the mess as well. “And clean it all up,” someone replied. Others encouraged how the security guards acted as another person wrote, “We need to start doing this to everyone who wants to act like a fool. Maybe this is the way they will learn.” This is definitely one way to learn from your mistakes.
Apparently, the Washington DC community is tired of seeing this kind of behavior happen. This made someone write, “Yeah, you’re getting charged for that milk, too, champ. People are done with this, good to see the community pushing back on this unchecked bs. Unfortunately, they’ll probably just let him go, but at least he got a face full of nope.” Since the two teens are Black, there was one person who replied and believed that this comment was racist. “this sounds very racist. Don’t you want to live like these boys do at home?” they asked. It’s not racist to want to hold people accountable. Someone else believed that this would be a good lesson for the boys. “Great lesson to learn and relatively harmless. A lot of teens steal without consequences. Could save him down the road, he’s not built for this,” they wrote. Hopefully, they will learn.
