Deadline has a new batch of casting information for Quentin Tarantino‘s upcoming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Four new actors have joined the already jam-packed cast: Lena Dunham, Austin Butler, Maya Hawke, and Lorenza Izzo have all signed on to the film.
Of these, the biggest is obviously Dunham. She is best known as the creator and star of HBO’s Girls, which ran for six seasons until concluding in 2017. Dunham and the show were both lightning rods for controversy during that period. She is currently working as the producer and writer on another HBO comedy, Camping.
The other actors are less-known names, but have still appeared in some big ticket media. Austin Butler started out on Disney shows like iCarly and Hannah Montana, but has recently appeared on Broadway, starring in The Iceman Cometh with Denzel Washington. He also has a role alongside heavy hitters like Bill Murray and Tilda Swinton in the upcoming The Dead Don’t Die.
Hawke has been cast in the upcoming third season of Stranger Things, and also played Jo March in a recent BBC version of Little Women. Izzo appeared in Hulu’s Casual and has a role in the upcoming adaptation of The House with a Clock in Its Walls.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is a crime drama that tells the story of a former Western star, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, and his former stunt double, played by Brad Pitt. The two return to Hollywood in 1969 to try to reclaim some of their former glory, all under the backdrop of the Charles Manson murders.
Besides DiCaprio and Pitt, the film boasts a cast containing some serious names: Margot Robbie, Dakota Fanning, Burt Reynolds, Timothy Olyphant, Luke Perry, Al Pacino, and Emile Hirsch have all been cast in the film. Tarantino regulars like Michael Madsen and Tim Roth also have roles in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is scheduled to release July 26, 2019. We will have more information on the film as it becomes available.
