As the name suggests, Dwarf Fortress is a game where players build a fortress and Dwarves work and expand the fort. The game is a popular colony simulator and with around 20 years under development, the game is expansive and has tons of things players can do. Among the many important things in the game is the health and happiness of the Dwarves. Good condition of Dwarves is directly linked to their performance. Soap is used to clean Dwarves, which, in turn, increases their safety and overall happiness. In this guide, we are going to cover how to make soap in Dwarf Fortress.
How To Make Soap In Dwarf Fortress
In order to make soap in Dwarf Fortress, players need two things: A soap maker’s workshop and the materials required to make soap in the game.
In order to create the soap maker’s workshop, all players have to do is head to the build section in the game, head to workshops, and craft soap maker’s workshop.
The two materials required to make soap in the game are lye and fat. In order to get lye, players first need ash. This can be done by burning wood at a furnace. Once players have got ash, they need to convert it into lye at an ashery (can be created from the same build menu used for crafting workshops).
There are two kinds of fat in the game, oil and tallow. Tallow can be acquired by rendering the fat acquired from killing an animal in the kitchen. Oil can be acquired by pressing olive seeds in a screw press.
Once both the items have been acquired, all players have to do is head to the soap maker’s workshop and create soap.
