Have you ever wanted to command an army of dwarves and build your own empire? If the answer to that is yes, then the upcoming DwarfHeim may just be your thing. Being developed by Pineleaf Studios and published by Merge Games, this real-time strategy title is sure to satisfy fans of the genre. With much new to bring, it’s no wonder fans are excited. We’ve been getting tidbits of information here and there, and now the teams are ready to bring their game to the world. DwarfHeim is releasing in Steam Early Access on October 22nd. The news was announced at PAX Online this weekend, the trailer for which you can watch below.

DwarfHeim’s Modes

DwarfHeim - Gameplay Trailer

DwarfHeim features four modes, all of which allow for various types of play. The main mode, Conquest, is the definitive way to play DwarHeim though. Select your class, and battle with your friends in an effort to take down your opponent’s Town Hall. Similar to this is Skirmish, a mode that has either you or you and friends facing off against difficult AI opponents. Each map gets more difficult, adding to the challenge. If you or a few buddies think you’re good enough, perhaps DwarfHeim’s Survival mode will give a fresh experience. This has your team outliving an onslaught to see how long you can survive. Finally, there’s Sandbox, a mode for the more relaxed RTS player out there. Everything is immediately unlocked, and you’re left to build whatever you please. This is also available solo or with a friend.

All four of these modes will be available at launch, with more to come in the future. This may just be me, but I’d love to see a co-op campaign integrated here. Playing the original Halo Wars co-op with a friend recently has proven a blast, which I feel would fit right at home with DwarfHeim. With its co-op style, that’s almost a no brainer. I’m excited to see whatever they have in store over the course of Early Access, and I hope you are too. Stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
