Three-vs-three co-op RTS DwarfHeim is finally out on Steam Early Access today, on October 22, for $24.99. DwarfHeim Early Access release is included with four different game modes you can try the moment you buy the game:
- Conquest: The main co-op multiplayer mode. Choose a class, join up with two other players, and work together to tear through the enemy team’s defenses.
- Skirmish: Available in single-player and online co-op. Put your strategies to the test by pitting your dwarf army against an AI-controlled rival clan.
- Survival: Try to outlive the onslaught of troll waves that come your way in both single-player and online co-op.
- Sandbox: A more relaxed game mode. Build your own perfect settlement in this creative game mode. Also available in single-player and co-op.
DwarfHeim is a new, dwarf-themed RTS title that features asymmetric, cooperative game modes. Choosing your role as Builder, Miner, or Warrior and maintaining teamwork with your teammates is critical to your victory; Builder would need stone for walls from Miner, and vice-versa, Miner needs wood to refine the stone and build underground structures from Builder. And of course, Warrior’s job is to hold the line against invading enemies. Although its main selling point is its three-player co-op, DwarfHeim can be enjoyed in single-player if you prefer. DwarfHeim Early Access launches alongside an optional Supporter Pass DLC pack, including golden skins for weapons, units, hero characters, and buildings. CEO and game director at Pineleaf Studio Hans-Andreas Kleven commented on why they choose to release the DLC.
“We’ve had people asking how they can further support us and DwarfHeim. So instead of asking for donations we created the Supporter Pass – a small token of gratitude for people’s generosity, we created in-game items for your units and buildings so other people can see you are a member of a very elite club.”
Kleven also added that they weren’t expecting that DwarfHeim would be a massive hit among media and RTS fans.
“The response to our first trailer for DwarfHeim was incredible – from the media, gamers adding us to their wish lists and content creators lining up to stream the game. The team has been counting down to the early access launch so we can finally pass our game into the hands of RTS fans everywhere – we really think DwarfHeim is something special and we can’t wait to share this journey with our community.”
Considering there aren’t many RTS game that focuses on cooperative gameplay similar to Halo Wars and Dawn of War II, this game might be shaping up to be an interesting entry to the genre. All it needs is just a good and challenging story mode to plow through with friends. What do you think? Are you going to get the DwarfHeim Early Access release? Tell us in the comments below.
