If you’re like me, you’re excited for Dying Light 2. This is Techland’s chance to take the disastrous launch that was Dying Light 1 and truly improve upon it to make a great game. What’s been shown so far is beautiful, but we’re still eagerly waiting for an idea of when that’s coming. Thankfully, Techland hasn’t forgotten about us. To hold us over until the release of that, Dying Light is getting an expansion known as Hellraid. It will release on July 23rd, 2020 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. To go with the announcement of the release date, the team showcased a new launch trailer and it looks great.
Dying Light – Hellraid has players descending into hell to take on new, more supernatural enemies. You’ll take on hordes of skeletons, each taking on various forms and types of damage. There are your usual sword-wielding skeletons, but some mages as well who send fire upon you. You’re not hopeless though, as a new array of weapons will help you along your quest. There are swords, maces, and even throwables. There will likely be much more, but no other weapons were shown during the trailer’s run. It all takes on this Skyrim look, but in Dying Light’s gameplay style.
It’ll be exciting to see how players feel about Hellraid when it releases next month. This isn’t the first we’ve heard about Hellraid though. Techland previously mentioned that they were in the process of making a first-person fantasy hack-and-slash. That project has since been put on hold, but it seems the team wanted to rebirth it in some form. They announced their reimagined passion project a few months ago but gave the release date out today. Hopefully, the passion held for that project shows up well in Hellraid.
We want to hear your thoughts though. What do you think of what’s been shown so far? Any thoughts on the previous installment in the Dying Light series? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
