Last year Shawn Layden wore a Crash Bandicoot shirt during the E3 press conference igniting rumors that we’d be seeing a new entry in the beloved franchise. Now a year later Layden has confirmed that he has more than a shirt for us. Layden announced that Sony was working with Activision to bring the first three entries of the Crash Bandicoot franchise to the PS4. Layden said the games would be “rebuilt from the ground up.” If Layden is to be taken literally than we can hopefully expect modern graphics, animations, and new assets to aid in the remaster on the PS4.
Personally I believe bringing the first three entries to the PS4 as updated games is the right move. The nostalgia alone will push these games, as well as help Crash Bandicoot get back on the map for a new generation.
